The NYC Council's Transportation Committee passed a bill to help drivers parked at broken meters. Previously, motorists parked at a busted meter were given a one-hour grace. Thereafter, a $35 to $65 parking ticket would be issued. If approved by Mayor Bloomberg, the new law would abolish this practice.
