New York City's Department of Transportation is set to test a weight-activated traffic camera to catch over-weight trucks in the act. When an over-weight truck runs over a sensor, a camera will take a photograph of the offending vehicle's plate and a ticket will be mailed to the registered owner. This system will work similarly to red light cameras which have become fixtures in the City.
