An Ontario man took a Fred Flintstone-esque, foot-powered car for a spin in Toronto. The man was stopped by the police and given a traffic ticket for unsafe operation.
The engine and transmission in this Buick were removed and candles were installed to replace the headlights. It did, however, have hand brakes. The goal of the car's designer was to make a point about excessive fuel consumption. The car, which has a top speed of about 10 mph, requires all four occupants to pedal their feet simultaneously ala the animated cartoon the Flintstones.
Charges were eventually dropped against the motorist. Fortunately, his friend video taped the whole thing. It is hysterical and can be seen by cutting and pasting the following link: www.discoverychannel.ca/shows/showdetails.aspx?sid=8102
