Record high gas prices have pushed New Yorkers to scale back their driving by almost 5% representing the eighth straight month of declining roadway traffic. With less targets for traffic tickets, police officers will likely be stricter in enforcing New York traffic laws as pressure to maintain quotas encourage them to issue "cheap" tickets. For instance, motorists are often given grace of 10 mph before being pulled over for speeding, but this may soon change.
