Dozens of automobile insurance companies have curtailed efforts to obtain rate hikes because the high price of gas have motorists driving less. Seventy-five percent of the states insurers had sought an average increase of 8% but instead will only raise rates an average of less than 1%. Most drivers will not even receive an increase as a result.
